Lately I have been telling people that I just want to become Amish and churn butter. For one thing, I really like butter. The other is, I am technologically exhausted from all of the constant changes and the little updates that momentarily mess everything up. There’s something enticing about living in a world where things stay the same, for a while. I am probably all wrong about the Amish.
Thank goodness I can create art with my hands and supplies and tools and know how things are going to work. That doesn’t mean that everything I do just works out.
Even though I know my art supplies, something comes along that is so intriguing I just can’t resist. It’s hard not to try everything out there that there is to try, and so I must choose carefully because I don’t have time to do everything, and I don’t want to be mediocre at everything either. So, I limit my choices.
But still sometimes, you gotta play. I discovered water soluble graphite several years ago. After several works on typical paper surfaces, I decided I wanted to try it on Yupo. Yupo is a 100% recyclable, waterproof, synthetic surface. Yes waterproof!!
I knew how to draw on paper. Choosing to use Yupo was a change that I brought upon myself, but I was ready for it because I wanted something to push me in a new direction.
